Joinery installation is easier to coordinate when the room and the schedule are prepared in advance. Before the installation date, agree what must be ready, who is responsible and how the team will access the property. A short written checklist can prevent avoidable confusion.
Confirm the room’s readiness
Ask which building, flooring, plumbing or electrical tasks must be completed first. Check that the latest site measurements and approved drawings reflect any recent changes. If another contractor has moved a wall or service point, tell the joinery team promptly rather than waiting until the furniture arrives.
Plan access and protection
Discuss parking, delivery routes, stairs, lifts and any estate or building access arrangements. Identify where components can be placed safely during the work. Agree how floors and nearby finishes will be protected, and keep the working area clear of belongings that could obstruct installation.
Coordinate the other trades
Establish when worktop measuring, appliance connections and finishing work will happen in relation to the cabinetry. Confirm who is responsible for each interface. Avoid assuming that the joinery installer will complete tasks belonging to another trade unless those tasks form part of the agreed scope.
Make handover a deliberate step
Walk through the finished work and record any outstanding items together. Check doors, drawers and accessories in use, and request the relevant care information. Agree how remaining work will be followed up. A documented handover gives everyone a shared understanding of what has been completed and what still needs attention.
