A TV wall can organise a living room or overwhelm it. Begin by deciding what the wall must accommodate beyond the screen: media equipment, games, books and the everyday items you would prefer out of sight. Keep the design connected to the room’s seating and proportions.
Place the screen for real viewing
Review the proposed screen position from the main seats before finalising the cabinetry. Consider nearby windows and the effect of reflections at different times of day. A dramatic wall composition should still support comfortable viewing. Mark the proposed position in the room if it is difficult to judge from drawings.
Plan equipment and cables early
List the devices, their dimensions and their connection requirements. Ask for cable routes, accessible sockets and suitable equipment ventilation to be coordinated with the relevant installers and manufacturer instructions. Hidden equipment still needs to be operated, maintained and replaced without dismantling the furniture.
Balance closed storage and display
Use closed sections for objects that create visual clutter. Reserve open shelves for a smaller number of pieces you want to see. Varying the contents can be more effective than adding many decorative compartments. Leave enough clear space around the screen so the wall does not feel crowded during viewing.
Connect finishes to the room
Relate the cabinetry to the floor, coffee table or nearby kitchen without repeating every material. Review the wall from the entrance as well as the sofa. The result should feel like part of the living room, with storage and technology accommodated in a coherent piece of joinery.
